Sabtu, 31 Mei 2014

If you attempt to run Norton LiveUpdate and you receive the “LiveUpdate Failed While Getting Your Updates" or “LiveUpdate Had An Internal Error While Getting Your Updates" message, LiveUpdate has failed to connect to the Norton servers to download the latest definition files. You may not see the error, but notice that your LiveUpdate definitions have not downloaded for several days. First, ensure that your computer is connect to the Internet, then troubleshoot LiveUpdate to resolve the issue and keep your computer protected.

LiveUpdate Feature
LiveUpdate is an application that is installed on computers running Symantec or Norton security products. LiveUpdate automatically connects to the Norton servers at regularly scheduled intervals to download the latest definition files. Definition files are the files that enable the anti-virus application to identify new viruses and malware.

Check Your License
The first step to take if LiveUpdate will not connect to acquire virus definitions is check the application license. If your software license has expired, LiveUpdate will fail to connect to the Norton servers when scheduled. Check your product licensing to make sure your usage license is valid.

Clear LiveUpdate Cache
If your product is licensed, but LiveUpdate still will not connect, clear the LiveUpdate cache. To clear the cache, open the Windows Control Panel, then click the “Symantec LiveUpdate” icon. Select the “Update Cache” tab, then click the “Remove All Files From Cache” option. All temporary files are deleted. Next, delete the LiveUpdate settings file.

Delete Settings File
Search for the “settings.liveupdate” file from the Windows Charms bar. When you find the file, delete it from the file system. Be sure that you have Windows File Explorer configured to see hidden files, so you can find the file in a search.

Reinstall LiveUpdate
Finally, download the latest LiveUpdate installation file (see Resources). Launch the LiveUpdate installation file to install the program. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation, then launch LiveUpdate. The application should now connect to the Norton servers and download the latest definition files.
