How to Remove a Specific File in CCleaner

CCleaner can occasionally flag legitimate or otherwise important files you want to hang onto for deletion. Should you find yourself in this situation, take advantage of the Exclude feature in CCleaner to remove a specific file from the program's operations. Once a file has been removed, it is no longer scanned or cleaned by CCleaner. You can also use the Exclude tool to remove folders, files, registry keys and entire drives from being scanned.


Instructions
1. Click the "Options" icon on the main CCleaner window to launch the Options screen.

2. Click the "Exclude" button to launch the Exclude screen. This screen shows a list of current exclusions and enables you to create new ones.


3. Click "Add" to launch the Exclude dialog, which is used to create a new exclusion rule.

4. Click the "File" radio button to indicate you want to exclude a specific file.

5. Click the "Browse" button next to the File field, browse to the file you want to remove from CCleaner operations and then click it to select it.

6. Click "OK" to finish creating your new exclusion rule. The selected file will not be scanned the next time you run a CCleaner operation.



Tips & Warnings
If you create an exclusion, the removed file will never be cleaned by CCleaner, regardless of what settings you specify on the Cleaner screen. Use the Include tool to add a file back into CCleaner, which is accessed by clicking "Options" on the main CCleaner screen and then selecting "Include." Click "Add," click the "File" radio button, click "Browse" and select the file you want to include. Click "OK" when you are finished.
